with Roula Said
Drawing inspiration from the zaar tradition, dancer, vocalist, and percussionist, Roula Said will lead a ceremonial journey to heal, release, cleanse and make peace with the energies that live inside us. This is a respectful reimagining of such a ritual for women here in New Brunswick in 2018. Roula has over 20 years of experience as a Middle Eastern dancer and musician and always brings a healing quality to all her classes and workshops.
The zaar will begin with a walk through conservation forest from the bonfire, and led by dancer and nature enthusiast, Kaleena Lawless of Luna Belly Dance in Saint John. We will hold the zaar by a brook and under the stars.
No dance experience is required, only a sincere intention to help hold a safe and nurturing space for all. Please eat a light meal an hour or two before the ceremony. There will be light snacks provided. Registrants will be invited to drop by a social bonfire to have a snack and say hello to fellow participants.
Further instructions will be sent upon registration.
Cost $25 HST Incl Date Sunday August 19 at 8pm-10pm
